Heart Shaped Valentine's Day Sugar Cookies Ready to Eat

Cream Cheese Cutouts (Susan’s Secret)

Ingredients

  • 1 C butter, softened
  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 ½ C flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

Frosting:

  • Wilton candy melts of your choice

Directions

  1. Cream together the butter and cream cheese until very smooth. Add Pioneer® Sugar and beat until fluffy and the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the egg, vanilla and almond extract. Beat well and add the flour and baking powder. Chill the dough for several hours or overnight.
  3. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350° F.
  4. Roll out on a floured and sugared surface (this prevents the dough from getting to floury). Cut out in desired shapes. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool.
  5. Melt the candy melts in the microwave on half power until melted and smooth. Dip the cookies in the melted candy and smooth out.
  6. Sprinkle with edible glitter, colored sugar or just let rest till the candy sets up. Yummy!
 

Cooks Note

I use 1/3 less fat cream cheese, works just as good.
