Strawberry Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake
  • 2 pkg. (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 1 tub (8 oz.) Cool Whip®, thawed
  • 1 qt. strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 recipe strawberry gel*

Strawberry Gel:

  • 1 ½ C water
  • 1 small box strawberry JELL-O®
  • ½ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 2 T cornstarch
  • 2 T corn syrup

Directions

  1. On the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch rectangular pan, add the angel food cake and press into the bottom (you can slice the loaf or rip up pieces of an angel food cake).
  2. In a bowl mix together the cream cheese and Pioneer® Sugar until well blended. Fold in the Cool Whip®. Spread on top of cake pieces or slices.
  3. In another dish, mix strawberry slices and gel. Spread on top of mixture. Chill until ready to be served.

Strawberry Gel:

  1. In a saucepan bring water to a boil. Pour in JELL-O®, Pioneer® Sugar, cornstarch and corn syrup; mix until everything is combine and sugar is dissolved. Chill until about half set. Use as directed above.
