Sour Cream Apple Squares

Ingredients

  • 2 C flour
  • 2 C Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar
  • ½ C margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 C walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 C sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C apples, finely chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. In a large bowl combine flour, Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar and butter; blend at low speed until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Press 2 ¾ cups crumb mixture into an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. To remaining mixture add cinnamon, soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla, and egg; blend well. Stir in apples. Spoon evenly over the base. Bake 25-35 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into squares. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
