Golden Brown Sugar Pound Cake

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 C butter or margarine, softened
  • ½ C shortening
  • ½ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 2 ¼ C Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 C all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 C milk
  • 1 C pecans, chopped

Caramel Glaze:

  • ¼ C butter or margarine
  • ½ C Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, sifted
  • ¼ C milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan.
  2. Cream butter, shortening, Pioneer® Sugar and Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar together in mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in pecans.
  4. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until pick (inserted 1-inch from edge, comes out clean. Cool in plan for 10 minutes; turn out onto wire rack and cool completely. Drizzle with caramel glaze.

Caramel Glaze:

  1. Melt butter in small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir in Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar; cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; gradually stir in Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar. Add milk and vanilla, stir until smooth.
