Frosting Baked on Top Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 C flour
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • 6 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • ½ C real butter
  • 1 ¼ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp. vanilla

Topping:

  • 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 medium egg
  • ¼ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 1 T chocolate syrup

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. Stir together flour and baking powder; set aside.
  3. Melt chocolate and butter in microwave; stir until smooth. Add Pioneer® Sugar and stir until smooth again. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix lightly just until combined. Gently fold in flour mixture; mix well.
  4. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 35 minutes.

Topping:

  1. Melt chocolate in microwave. Add cream cheese and beat until smooth. Add egg, Pioneer® Sugar and syrup. Beat until smooth.
  2. Spread topping over baked brownies. Return to oven for additional 12-15 minutes until set. Cool on wire rack.
 

Cook's Note

Drizzle with more chocolate if desired. Melt together ¼ C chocolate chips and 1 tsp. butter to make drizzle. Also if desired nuts can be added to this recipe but it is delicious without them.
