Fresh Apple Cookies

Ingredients

  • ½ C shortening
  • 1 ⅓ C Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ⅓ C milk
  • 2 C flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp cloves, optional
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 C raisins
  • 1 C fresh apples, chopped
  • ½ C nuts, chopped

Glaze:

  • 1 ½ C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • ½ T vanilla
  • 1 T milk or enough to make a thin spread

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F. Lightly spray a cookie sheet; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl mix together shortening, Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar and egg. Beat until well blended, then add milk.
  3. Next add the flour, mix until blended. Then add the baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. After this is mixed stir in the raisins, apples and nuts.
  5. Drop by teaspoonful on prepared pan. Bake for 11-14 minutes.

Glaze:

  1. In a mixing bowl add Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, vanilla and milk. Mix well. While cookies are still warm spread with glaze and let cool until glaze is set.
