Buttermilk Brownies

Ingredients

  • ½ C butter
  • ½ C vegetable oil
  • 1 C water
  • 2 C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 2 C all-purpose flour
  • ¼ C unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 C buttermilk
  • 2 LG eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Frosting:

  • ½ C butter
  • ⅓ C buttermilk
  • 3 ¾ C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • ¼ C unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Lightly grease a 15 x 12-inch jelly roll pan; set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, oil, and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Let cool.
  3. Combine Pioneer® Sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Add the cooled liquid mixture; mix together.
  4. In a small bowl mix baking soda and buttermilk; blend in eggs and vanilla. Add to the sugar mixture; mix well.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 20 – 25 minutes. Cool.

Frosting:

  1. Combine butter, buttermilk, Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla; mix will. Frost cooled brownies.
