Brownie Ingredients

  • 1 C unsalted butter
  • 14 oz. semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • ½ C Pioneer® Dark Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • ½ C Pioneer® Golden Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • ⅔ C Pioneer® Sugar
  • 5 LG eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. milk, whole or 2 percent
  • 1 ½ C unbleached, all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. instant espresso powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt

Chocolate Drizzler:

  • ⅔ C heavy whipping cream
  • 6 oz. bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 4 oz. semisweet chocolate, finely chopped

Brownie Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Line a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, extending up and beyond the sides of the pan.
  2. Combine the butter and chocolates in a large saucepan over low heat, stirring until mixture is melted and smooth. Take off heat and cool to room temperature.
  3. Whisk in Pioneer® Sugar’s to blend. Whisk in eggs, vanilla and milk blending until smooth.
  4. Add flour, espresso powder and salt, stir just until mixture is combined. Spread into prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a cake tester or toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached. Cool pan completely on a wire rack. When cool, use parchment ends to carefully lift brownies out of pan. Invert onto a clean cutting board, carefully remove parchment and then re-invert brownies. Return to a wire rack set atop a large piece of waxed paper.

For the Chocolate Drizzler:

  1. Bring cream to a simmer in a medium saucepan. Remove pan from heat and add chocolates. Let chocolates melt in hot cream for 2 minutes without stirring. Whisk until smooth. Let chocolate cool but remain thick, soft and pourable.
  2. Pour over brownie base, allowing some to drip down and cover the sides. Spread drizzler with metal spatula, covering top and sides. Let brownies firm up in the refrigerator. Cut into bars.
