Ingredients

  • ½ C Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 C butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ C all-purpose flour
  • ½ C chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, as needed

Directions

  1. Cream together Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar, salt and butter thoroughly. Add vanilla extract.
  2. Gradually stir flour into creamed ingredients. Work nuts into dough. Place in refrigerator until well chilled (about 2 hours).
  3. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  4. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Place onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set, but not brown.
  5. Remove from oven and roll in Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar immediately. Place on rack and cool. Roll in sugar again if desired.  Store in airtight container.
 

Cooks Note

Color-tinted Snowballs can be made by rolling cookies in colored sugar. To tint the sugar place 1 ½ cups + 6 T of Pioneer® Confectioners Powdered Sugar in a blender or food processor. Drop several drops of food coloring into center and blend briefly.
